| It only
took me two days to have my application
approved by the Homelink Centre in Zimbabwe
and after two weeks I was notified that
they had purchased the house that I wanted
in Masvingo. The process is fast and efficient
and I urge other people in the Diaspora
to utilise this facility. |
| He commended the team at the Homelink Centre
for constantly communicating with him in the
UK on updates pertaining to his application
and said this demonstrated a high level of
professionalism and dedication to work. |
| I can only say
keep up the good work to all the people back
at home at the Homelink Centre and I hope
the HHDS will help a lot of us out here,
he said. |
| Another beneficiary of the Homelink housing
development facility says she never thought
she would be a proud owner of a double storey
house in Harare's upmarket suburb of Glen
Lorne. |
| Raising money
to buy a house worth two billion dollars is
something that I never dreamt of in my life
but when the HHDS was announced I applied
for a loan and within two weeks my application
was approved, she said. |
| She said with assistance from the Homelink
team everything regarding the purchase and
evaluation of the property went on well despite
her absence from Zimbabwe. |
| The facility
is fast and convenient because one can buy
a house without necessarily coming back home
and it does not take long for one to know
International Project Promoters present in
the country where one will be based,
she said. |
She added that the HHDS allows one to
identify a house in an area of one's choice
with the Homelink Centre only paying after
the property has been identified and evaluated
and after all the required documents have
been produced by the seller of the house.
This, she said, was a breath of fresh air
in an industry that had
seen the proliferation of dubious estate
agents and housing cooperatives erode confidence
in the sector.
Another Zimbabwean who is based in Canada
who recently acquired a house under the
HHDS, was full of praise for Homelink. |
| Raising $170
million to buy a house in Zimbabwe was a fairy
tale considering the kind of employment I
got when I came to Canada. Having left a family
to fend for in Zimbabwe and a bus-full of
dependants, I never thought one day I would
be able to buy a big house in Warren Park.
|
| My sincere gratitude
to the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe,
Dr Gideon Gono, for announcing the HHDS to
Zimbabweans in the Diaspora. Now I can boast
of a four-bedroomed house of my own. Renting
a cottage is now a thing of the past for my
family, he said. |
| He said raising money to buy a house back
home was not easy, contrary to what some would
want to believe. |
| It has been
tough especially for me because, being the
breadwinner at home, I am expected to send
money for basics, school fees and other projects
leaving me with virtually nothing to save.
But thanks to the HHDS I ama landlord back
home, he said. |
| Repaying a loan
over a five-year period is fairly reasonable
especially when it is for an asset such as
a house which one will be using and we should
give credit to the RBZ for coming up with
this very noble idea that is reliable, cheap
and user friendly, he said. |
