Mr
Shingirai Munyeza
Mr Munyeza is Chief Executive of Zimbabwe Sun and
President of the Zimbabwe Council for Tourism.
He trained as an accountant with Ernst&Young,
which he left as an Audit Manager after eight years
to join Colcom as the Group Finance Manager. He
was part of the listing team for Colcom Holdings.
Three years later he moved from accounting to marketing,
with his appointment as Head of the sales and marketing
team at Colcom. To sharpen his marketing skills
he joined the advertising industry where he spent
four years.
Having obtained both accounting and marketing skills
and qualifications he joined Cresta Hospitality
as the Group Sales & Marketing Director. He
spent the first two years rebranding Cresta from
being Best Western to Cresta Hospitality throughout
Southern Africa that is in Botswana, South Africa,
Namibia and Zimbabwe.
He was promoted to take charge of all Cresta operations
in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia. In Botswana
he assumed the responsibility of Sales, Marketing
& Finance Director.
In August 2002 he led a consortium of local businessmen
to aquire a 35% stake in Zimbabwe Sun and assumed
the role of Chief Executive immediately. He has
successfully led the company in the demerger of
its property portfolio, which is now listed on the
Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. It is the first listed
property entity on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
He has also successfully led the team at Zimsun
to spread the business into South Africa, Ghana,
Nigeria and Mozambique.
In addition to being President of the Zimbabwe Council
for Tourism, he is a board member of the Zimbabwe
Tourism Authority and Regional Tourism of Southern
Africa (RETOSA). He sits on several other boards, including
First Banking Corporation Holdings Limited, Dawn
Properties Limited and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe
Foreign Currency Advisory Board. He has been an
active member of the Advisory Board's Publicity
and Communication Sub-Committee, which has promoted
the Homelink brand.
Mr Munyeza was presented with the 2002 Tourism Personality
of the Year Award. In 2004 he was awarded the Junior
Chamber International Business, Economic and Entrepreneurial
accomplishment.
He is married to Wilma and has a daughter, Nomsa. |
