Mr Moris Bekezela Mpofu, Chief Executive
Mr Mpofu has spent 14 years at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe where he has gained considerable experience in foreign exchange issues. He joined the Reserve Bank in March 1991, as an Economist, after a short stint with the then ANZGrindlays Bank. He worked in the Balance of Payments, Monetary Sector and External Debt sections of the Bank.
Mr Mpofu was Head of the External Debt Section and Secretary for the External Loans Co-ordination Committee from 1995 to 2000. In January 2001, he was elevated to Assistant Director of Exchange Control. In 2004, following the restructuring of the Bank, Mr Mpofu was appointed Division Chief for Exchange Control, under which the Homelink system was managed and administered. Mr Mpofu holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master of Science degree in International Economics, Banking and Finance from Cardiff Business School, University of Wales (UK).
Mr Mpofu is also a Graduate Fellow of the Macroeconomic Management and Financial Institute (MEFMI) and was attached to the World Bank's Financial Products and Services Department in 1999.
On the international scene, he has conducted regional training workshops in debt management and asset and liability management for MEFMI. Mr Mpofu has also done professional consultancy work on 'Private Capital Flows' for a United Kingdom-based capacity building organisation, Development Finance International (DFI) for Central Bank projects in Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Gambia andTanzania.
Mr Mpofu is married to Nonhlanhla. They have two sons, Melvin Bongubuhle and Marlone Bulelani.
