Dr
Eric Bloch
Dr Bloch is a well-known financial, management,
taxation and economic commentator and President
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1964 and
has been in
public practice ever since.
He is a director of numerous quoted public and private
companies, an office bearer and trustee of many
local and international trusts and other organisations
and serves on a large number of committees.
Among the many bodies on which he serves are the
Committee for the Development of Bulawayo, the Bulawayo
and District Publicity Association, advisory boards
of two faculties of the National University of Science
and Technology, the National Art Gallery in Bulawayo,
the Pro Africa Development Trust, Black Umfolosi,
the Ulwazi Institute, of which he is chairman, Girls'
College and the Junior Achievement Zimbabwe Trust.
He also serves on the Bulawayo Ad Hoc Budget Advisory
Committee and is a trustee on the International
Board of the Centre for Peace Initiatives in Africa.
He is patron of St Joseph's House for Boys. He is
a member of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Foreign
Currency Auctions' Advisory Board and several of
its subcommittees.
In May 1999 Solusi University conferred upon him
an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration.
Dr Bloch has served on many of the committees of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants, which he
now leads, including its tax and other legislation
committees.
He is a regular contributor to the Zimbabwean and
international financial, professional and general
Press and undertakes extensive public speaking engagements
in Zimbabwe and further afield.

. He co-authored with Hans Bloch The Old Mutual/CABS
Guide to
Zimbabwean Income Tax
. In 1990 he won the Financial Writer of theYear
award.
He is married with four children, all of whom have
pursued academic careers. He enjoys reading, classical
music, setting quiz questions and community service,
especially where youth education and career advancement
are concerned. |
