HOMELINK-KUMUSHA-EKHAYA
Homelink (Pvt) Ltd is a
wholly owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank
Of Zimbabwe. It was incorporated in February
2005 with the primary objective of mobilising
foreign currency remittances from the diaspora.
Initially, its main thrust was centred on
money transfer services. It was created
to offer a safe, fast, |
 |
reliable, convenient and legal means of sending
money home thus contributing to the country's economic
turnaround. Shortly thereafter, a housing scheme
was introduced for those wishing to become homeowners.
About Homelink
The Homelink concept was couched at a time when
the country was experiencing a downturn in economic
growth, which was characterised by acute foreign
currency shortages in the nation. At the same
time, there was a realisation that much could
be gained by engaging non-resident Zimbabweans
who were interested in investing back home.
The Vision of the organisation
is To be the Premier transmission
channel for clean foreign currency remittances
into the country.
Homelink is driven by its mission which is To
mobilise foreign currency for the country in line
with international best practices, through the
creation and promotion of investments, products
and services for Zimbabweans
at home and abroad.”
Homelink Housing Development Scheme (HHDS)
This scheme allows non-resident
Zimbabweans and any local holders of free funds
to purchase homes at affordable rates. To date,
Homelink has seen more than 550 Zimbabweans abroad
and at home become proud home-owners. Thousands
more are on the waiting list and as a result of
that, Homelink has embarked on massive construction
projects in and out of Harare.
Money Transfer Agencies
Homelink has been granted a license
to operate a Money Transfer Agency. It will be
affiliated to an international Money Transfer
Agent. Currently there are several other MTAs
also performing the very crucial task of transferring
money to Zimbabwe.
Future Developments
Homelink understands the important
role that non-resident Zimbabweans and holders
of free funds can play in economic development.
There are numerous investment opportunities in
existence here in Zimbabwe. It is also our intention
to open up satellite offices in selected countries
to enable us to better serve our clients and stimulate
further dialogue in this regard.
The company is in the process of broadening its
product base to further serve the interests of
its target market. Various schemes are under consideration
which will include but are not limited to:
- International Calling Card
- Bereavement Scheme
- Foreign Currency Denominated Bonds
- Groceries Scheme
